Migration from NAV17 and BC-On-Premise to BC Cloud

Hello all,

We are looking to migrate from our current 2 ERP systems: NAV 17 for our EU market and BC-On-Premise for our UK market to a single BC Cloud solution for all regions.

We are seeking recommendations for a reliable and experienced partner to assist with this migration project. Specifically, we need a partner who can:

  1. Evaluate and understand our current as-is processes across both systems.
  2. Assist in defining our to-be processes to ensure optimal efficiency and integration in the new BC Cloud environment.
  3. Evaluate our current migration plan, including timeline, risk assessment, and change management strategies.
  4. Offer training and support post-migration to ensure a smooth transition and user adoption.

Any recommendations or advice from those who have undertaken similar migrations would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

If you want to merge those two companies into one company that will be on a SaaS environment, then there will be no major problems except for merging the initial balances of those two companies, or creating two separate companies on a SaaS environment is an easier process of preparing initial balances. It depends on your company's policy.

Regarding the functionalities that you have developed on NAV 17 and BC, there should not be a big difference from those that will be developed on BC SaaS, except that SaaS provides many opportunities for speeding up and additional automation of functionality in combination with other Dynamics 365 products.

I don't think the forum is the best place to ask such questions, given all the above, your migration is not particularly different from all other migrations and I think any serious client would solve your problems.
Of course, integrations with other systems in your environment come into question, which could complicate things.

On this link below you can search/filter MS partners and find a suitable partner with whom you will continue the discussions about your migration.

    Greetings

    Hi Mustafa,

Thank you very much for your reply.

We have one concern regarding the migration of our two separate entities (UK and EU) into a single account/entity in the BC Cloud. A potential supplier mentioned that this consolidation might lead to financial complications since the entities are currently set up separately.

Could you please clarify if there are any risks associated with merging these entities into one account in the BC Cloud, especially considering our plans to include a future US market as well?

    Hello again,

If you want to have one company that will operate on the UK and EU market, then you will have to take care in preparing the initial balances for the new Cloud environment, because you will have to take care of double analytics of customers, vendors, inventory and other entries.

Of course, you will have to have localization for the country in which you will do business, which will cover all legal requirements.
With various native settings, you can make a difference between doing business with UK and EU clients, such as using different dimensions, or posting groups of customers/vendors or similar. You can differentiate general ledger entries with different posting settings, so that EU and UK postings differ if required by legal requirements.

Also, if there are different functionalities on the current NAV and BC on-prem environments that were used depending on the business market, then it will be necessary to consolidate all functionalities on the SaaS environment.

If you have any more specific questions, I am at your disposal.
