Check printing too light

Anyone know how to fix checks printing too light? Our bank keeps rejecting our checks. And yes I've replaced my toner. All reports print fine, it's just check printing.

Question on why they are rejecting - could it be the size or font type that is causing the problem?

We had a client a number of years ago that was using a 'very small' font on the cheque document and that was the reason that the bank gave for rejecting.

If this is of any help I will connect with the client site and see what font was used in the old check document and what they are using now.  Let me know.

They say the font it too light & seems to be too small. Been using the same printer & everything for last 3 years with no issues. Just the last month the bank is rejecting...and of course they charge us for each one.

thank you for getting back to me!

If that is the case then the simple solution is to edit the face of the check to increase the size of the font - likely 2 point increase across the board - all printed places - don't select the fonts - do all of them.

Let us know if this helps.

Thanks,  I don't seem to have access to change anything so I'll get with our IT department or the Admin for our account & see if they can help with the info you gave me.

That is often the case - this is not a regular user access.  You will need to ask them to open and work in Report Writer.

Just one thing - do you have a third party Check Printer by any chance.  If so, that might change the way the report has to be updated.

Just keep posting and the community will assist.

We have had this happen with some of the checks our clients send us from GP. Does not happen every time with the same client, but every time it happens it is with the non-graphical check formats. I usually recommend switching to the "Stub Top/Bottom - Graphical" format if this is an ongoing issue. However that may require new check stock and the report layout may need to be adjusted for your printer. Still, that will likely be less costly than having to pay ongoing bank fees and/or late payments.

    Missy,

Someone may simply have played with the printer driver settings.. or the printer config itself (from the panel).. as many printers today offer the option of 'eco-ink' printing, which saves basically 50% of ink when printing on paper, which also de-facto means your output will look much 'lighter' and greyish than a regular print.

Start checking the setup first before you alter any font settings in your checks.
