Calculated Field Not Working in Flow Condition

(0) ShareShare

Hi,

I have a Calculated Field that takes the value from another field from a related entity. This field is a Choice field. The field name is Approval Status and it has 2 options - Approved & Rejected. My Calculated Field name is also the same, and it will take whatever value this field will have.

My Flow condition is - If Approval Status is equal to Rejected

The resultant action should be - Change the Status of the Record to Inactive

However, looks like the Calculated Field is not working for the condition as my Flow is not running at all. Could it be because the value in a Calculated field is real-time? If so, how should I set this condition?

This is a snapshot of my flow...

Thanks!

    Hi,

First of all, could you please share the trigger of your flow?

Do you have any query operation like Get a row by ID or List rows? As far as I know, calculated field only calculated on query so you need to have a query step in your flow to get  the value of calculated field.

    @ Ray Gan

Thank you for your response. I tried using Get a row by ID, but still my flow is not working. These are the snapshots of my flow...

I think you may need to change your trigger, since calculated field can not be changed. Calculated field is read only, you can not modify it and actually it is not stored in database. That is the reason why your flow is not working as you expect.

change the trigger field to the original field on related entity.

Wow you are right, I should have taken the original field on the related entity in my trigger since Calculated field runs in realtime and just takes the value from that field. So I modified my trigger and gave the same condition, but when I'm trying to add my conditional action under 'Yes' & 'No', I'm not able to select the Row Id of my other entity dynamically. All the values and fields appearing are from the trigger entity. Here are some snapshots...

Since my trigger started with the Related entity, I guess the conditional action too needs input from the related entity. So is there anyway by which I can update my other entity record inspite of the trigger having the related entity?

Are you able to get that calculated field entity with lookup field or something?

Yes I am actually able to get the 'Grant Application' entity name from the dropdown list of 'Table name', here is a snapshot...

But the dynamic content shows only values related to my related entity 'Reviews', which was used in my trigger.

Here is an example for you:

I used two OOTB entity, Account and Contact, Contact has a lookup field "Account Name" related to Account, now if Address 1: City get updated I would like to copy the value to Contact Address 1: City.

The trigger would be Account "address1_city" field changed:

    Get related Contacts:

    Update "address1_city" on Contact:

Wow, that worked like a charm! I added List Rows and finally am able to see my related entity row Id and fields. My flow is also working properly now. Thanks a lot R@y !
