Cannot delete instance in Administration Tool

Hi All,

I uninstalled dynamics nav 2013 and installed nav 2017.

I deleted the nav2013 instance in the sql tabel [Server Instance].

In the Administration Tool there are tow instances visible now.

Why is the deleted instance (2013) still visible? I cannot remove it with powershell (i use cmdlets of nav2013) either.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

 Patrick

You might have to delete the registry entry in the following location

    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MMC\SnapIns

Search for the Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.ManagementUI, Version=7.0.0.0 and then delete the whole GUID.

Please do take back of your registry before making any changes.

    Hi,

You need to remove the instance entry from the registry too. Press the Windows + R and type regedit to then navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> MMC -> SnapIns and remove the relevant instance GUID.

Yes, press the Windows + R and type regedit to then navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then SOFTWARE then Microsoft then MMC then SnapIns - remove the instance. Do not forget the following:

    1. Export the registry file before deletion, just in case

    2. Restart your pc after deletion

    Thanks,

    Hi,

I think the cause of the problem here is that nav 2013 is not uninstalled correctly.
Perhaps because it is installed on the e-drive instead of c-drive?

When uninstalling nav 2013 with the DVD nothing is removed from the folder:
    E:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\71\Service\

Also the 2013 default instance should have been removed bit it is not.

How can i correctly uninstall nav-server 2013 and the belonging instance?
I can not remove the 2013 instance with powershell modules because it is the default instance.
Removing it form the registry is also not enough i think because firewall settings are not modified correctly then.

    Thanks,

    Patrick
