Data import/export Framework

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

I am new to DIXF.

Can i use DIXF framework for ongoing data integration?  I see the post where it's being used from one-off data migration while upgrading from Legacy to AX system first time. Has anybody done continuous integration using DIXF?

We want to integrate  customers, vendors, purchase orders, sales orders etc on on-going basis with our legacy system to Dynamics AX.

Our legacy system would remain the primary source of the information as of now.

Yes, we can implement DIXF for data integration.

As I have seen DIXF, it is having lots of capability which we can utilize it for data integration

You have development and customization capability using X++

it utilized AIF framework of Dynamics AX

it utilizes internally SQL SSIS packages to import bulk data for performance

it utilizes Batch framework for running process in tasks

for your case you can utilize one of the options where you can copy data from staging to target in one go when you copy data from source to stagging

and as andre suggested  you can utilize Batch processing option to run 'Copy data to stagging'

Frameworks validation and Error logging options will be a great tool for investigating data issues.

FYI, We have designed this as a data integration tool for our requirement in one of the project. we are working on it, let us see I will update further if there is anything else

Please verify and update us with you findings.

    Thanks Andre,

Yes, i did some sample integration using CSV file with DIXF. But couldn't find the way for ongoing integration out of the box. Only good part is that it takes care everything for the entity you select for integration. one need not to worry what all tables data needs to be inserted/updated.

Is AIF taking care of this insert/update in all relevant tables for a given entity out of the box?

    Hi VDY,

Master data management is standard supported as of Ax 2012 R3. This is using DIXF and is ongoing. So yes it is possible. There are entities supported like the Customers and Vendors.

Be aware that probably Application Integration Framework might be better. MDM uses additional components. To achieve similar you need to try using the processing in batches. The file name is fixed in DIXF.

AIF is designed to handle this better.
