Changes to "Matches" to "Is one of" when filtering in Grid

Posted on by 11
A user reached out to ask about a change they saw to their filter function after an update. They setup a process within their group where they would go into the grid filter, select the /Matches/ and enter several selections separated by a common. Upon applying this filter, it switched from /Matches/ to /Is one of/. Has anyone else seen this change? I can't find any Microsoft documentation of this change, does anyone have any?

Changes to "Matches" to "Is one of" when filtering in Grid
    Hi Community member,

This behavior is not only for "is one of"

For example if you put Matches *101*  then it will be converted to contains 101

OR if you put matches 101 then it will be converted to is exactly

So "matches" gives you more flexibility to put anything if you are not sure which other filter to choose. However, if you use "is one of" or "is exactly", then this means you know what you are searching for and that you either really want "is exactly" or "is one of"

And btw if you use "is exactly" *101* it will also be converted to "contains" 101

So choose whatever you like, as long as u get the correct result

    Thanks,
    Layan Jweihan

Hi, I have the same results when I tested on my demo environment, I think it is a standard behavior.

This is for Finance and Operations. I have included a screen shot of what I am seeing. In this case, I am looking at released products. I select matches then enter data separated by a comma. Then click apply. The Grid filters but then automatically changes from "matches" to "is one of."

    Hy,

as I understood /matches/ can be used like A* or *A with any kind of wildcard as well as using a list of values also having wildcards and seperated by commas e.g. 00018*,00017*
In contrast /Is One of/ expect as list of values, also wildcards supported. In the value field of /Is one of/ a list of values can be copy and pasted e.g. from a Excel column.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

Dynamics 365 consists of many applications such as sales, customer service, marketing, Finance and Operations etc.
You're asking in D365 general forum, therefore it's not clear which product you have in mind.
    Please add this information.

    Best Regards,
    Dengliang Li
