Axapta3.0 sever terminated connection to client when migrated from oracle 9i to 10g standard

Hello,

We are using Axapta 3.0 and DB Oracle 10G Standard

We have recently migrated oracle database 9i to 10 G standard version hence forth we are

getting this error randomly once more than one user is login:

Hi Axuser,

Do you have any system requirements by the hand? I don't know if 10G is supported. I can't find the information other than a next question on another forum. This question is 11 years old.

Note that you are running very old and outdated software. Would it be possible to upgrade to all recent versions of software? Note that AX is not supporting Oracle databases as of AX 2012.

I hope you're not Live with this solution!

It looks line the system is trying to use the 9i dlls... You are running an ancient software against a newer database. You can't just upgrade a piece of a software without checking out compatabilities. I bet you there are no support for this. Sorry!

1) Is there a compatability mode you can run the new database in if not go back or stick to the 9i database.

2) Start your system upgrade to AX7 first thing Monday by looking for a partner that can assist you in the process. Get quotes, but remember: The cheapest offer is often never the cheapest one. ;)

General lesson to be learned:

Don't touch any running components of a software that is out of date like this. Not even changes/updates/security patches to the operation system or driver updates should be brought in without thorough testing, as they might end up causing any kind of issues.

It is the cost of not upgrading and it is a MAJOR security risk. It is often far more costly then upgrading.

Windows 2008 --Axapta 3.0 SP 3 and DB Oracle 10G Standard 64 bit.

and getting Error

What was the migration steps can you share, i think Dlls are not getting updated w.r.t AX and DBs, but not sure.

Hello again,

You might be able to run it on Server 2008. I wouldn't expect major issues, but then again you might run in to some unforseen ones. For example if you have done ANY updates released to Server 2008 after extended support for Axapta 3.0 ended (1. october 2012). support.microsoft.com/.../lifecycle

I've checked out the timeline and it seems that 10g was released well within the lifecycle of AX 3.0, so I would be surprised if there aren't any drivers available for this, but you have to get hold of them... and that might present a challenge. As your error message clearly refer to and that Umesh pointed out I think your DLLs aren't updated. Make sure to get the right ones. In any case you're presented with the same issue on updates as with Windows Server 2008... No updates after lifecycle end should be installed without an extensive testing.

Sorry mate... Only thing I can recommend in this case is: Roll back, roll back, roll back...

And then start your upgrade. You'll save money in the long run, if you wan't to stay secure that is. You could always just let the system run without any updates. :)

We have only migrated DB level and not done any changes at application level.

it was db to db migration.
