Modify Invoice Journal Excel Import Process

(0) ShareShare

Hello all,

This is my first time posting here so please forgive any posting mistakes I may make.

I have a very concise question, I have been tasked to modify the import logic for the invoice journal excel template. This is the excel add-in

that gives users the ability to create and upload invoice journal entries via the excel dynamics add-in. I have conducted research on this matter

and I have been able to ascertain on my own that I need to modify the LedgerGeneralJournalService class in order to customize the invoice

journal import process. My issue is I do not see this class in the AOT in my one box environment. Do I need to download some necessary files

in order to extend and modify the LedgerGeneralJournalService class? What's really making my head spin is the import is working in my one

box environment, but, I cannot locate the service class nor the service group that the service class belongs to in my one box's AOT.

I am currently using one box via a virtual machine that is installed on my computer via hyper v.

Any help you all can provide on this matter is much appreciated.

    Hi,

Not sure what you are actually up to but maybe the following article helps

I do not see the Ledger Services group in my AOT at all. Is there a file/model/some kind of service package that I could be missing?

Ludwig, I hate to be persistent, but it is imperative that I get pass this hurdle. Is there something missing in my onebox environment, I do not see the LedgerServices group nor do I see the LedgerGeneralJournalService class either in my AOT.

    Hi,

    Sorry for the late reply.

You are working on AX2012, right?

Assuming that this is the case, can you then at least identify the LedgerGeneralJournalService in the service node?

This is what you need in any case.

If the service group is missing, you can create it yourself and then assign the LedgerGeneralJournalService to this group and deploy it.

If you are working on D365FO then things are different.

Please have a look at this site for details:

    Best regards,

I am working in AX7. This is a version above AX 2012 correct? Forgive my ignorance but I am new to Dynamics AX I was originally a C#.NET developer at my previous employer.

Also I do not see the LedgerGeneralJournalService  class in my AOT either. The LedgerServices group as well as the LedgerGeneralJournalService service class are missing from my AOT. However, I am able to import invoice journal records from the corresponding excel invoice journal sheet in my onebox environment.

    Hi,

I see. "AX7" is indeed different as the whole import process was changed.

Have you tried making use of this import described here?

    dynamicsax-fico.com/.../dynamics-365-general-journal-excel-imports

There are also some additional infos available on the MS docs sites.

    Please see: docs.microsoft.com/.../use-excel-add-in

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

I was able to resolve this issue on my own. Apparently in AX7 all of the journal excel import logic that controls inserting/updating the journal lines is controled by the VendInvoiceJournalLineEntity data entity.

I am not sure if all of the logic concerning the LedgerGeneralJournalService  class has been moved here, but if you need to modify anything concerning the insert/update logic in open with excel then working with the corresponding entity events on the VendInvoiceJournalLineEntity data entity is your best bet. Atleast it worked in my situation anways.

Thank you Ludwig for your assistance.

And to clarify, the VendInvoiceJournalLineEntity data entity only works for the invoice journal lines. The ledger journal lines are using the LedgerJournalLineEntity data entity.
