Contacts in the Hierarchy

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi Guys/Ladies,

I've been stuck for the past 6 hours on this problem.

When you go to the account view and click on the "View Hierarchy", you get the full hierarchy right ? right :)

Now I changed in the customization Under Enity > Account > Hierarchy Settings > Hierarchy settings > Default Quick View Form > to a custom "Quick view" where I set the "Account name" and "Primary Contact" as the fields, but I was looking for contacts and couldnt find it. Because I want to show the primary contact and the CONTACTS in the hierarchy view.

So I tried making a field myself but was unsuccesful. Then I tried to copy the account subgrid on the account form but that again didn't work because subgrids don't show up on a "Quick View".

After all this I came to a conclusion I need to "code" this .... but I have no idea how to start or is this problem solvable without any coding ??

Well anyway thanks..

xx

    Hi Zain,

The hierarchy is only working for a self referential relationship.

The account hierarchy can only show parent-child relationships between accounts, not between accounts and contacts.

If you want to display the hierarchy of accounts and contacts, you need to customize the html page.

If you don't care about the visualization of the hierarchy, you could also use a custom subgrid or advanced find or report.
