Access to D365FO tables via PowerApps/CDS

Hi all, I'm attempting to use PowerApps to pull data from D365FO to CDS for PowerBI and PowerQuery purposes.

What I have found within PowerApps is that I am restricted to mapping standard D365FO entities to custom entities in PowerApps. This is all well and good, except that I'm really interested in accessing data stored on tables (e.g. the Posted Tax inquiry in the Tax module) which to my knowledge is not available on standard entities (would welcome being wrong about this fact). I'm aware I can use O-Data connections for a direct link between PowerQuery and D365FO, but this is again restricted to standard entities.

Outside of development to create custom entities, is there any way that I can push data which to my knowledge is only stored onto tables into solutions like PowerQuery and PowerBI via PowerApps or otherwise?

No, you can't access tables directly from outside F&O. Use data entities.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the response, it's a shame that we are limited to the data entities.

Just wanted to check whether my understanding is correct in that the data stored on tables (e.g. the Posted Tax inquiry in the Tax module) is not always necessarily available on standard entities. I've thus-far been unable to find a standard entity, or combination of entities for that matter, which contains all the information available on this table.

That's possible that entity is not present for some of the tables . In that case you have to create one for the table which are needed for you.

You would have to create custom entity if entity is not available for the table you are looking for.

Hi Toby,

As alternative, you can push data to a BYOD or Data lake. Then you can access the data as well with another connector. Anyway, you need to do something addidional.

Hi Ajit,

Yes, you need an entity. Note that some entities are set to be used with data management features only. They are not public. So, try to see if some of your tables are supported for data management. However, creating a public entity would also be possible then.
