Hi all,

I'm Just trying to download Latest Version of Development VHD image and its taking more than 3 hours to complete one part of 3GB ,
when I was downloading Older Version (2 years back) it took only 30 to 40 min to complete , but because of some issue or recent Changes its taking that much of time .
I've checked download link and its hosted under https://uswedpl1catalog.blob.core.windows.net as per the download URL.
also i've checked speed from that location and its 0.29 Mbps.
any idea whether there is any possibility I can download VM from another location , which has low latency?

Hi Amith,

You can probably give it another try? I'm have started a download and it runs with at least 2MB/sec. Expected time is 20 minutes. At least don't try to download all parts in parallel, but sequencial.

If you keep having issues, check your internet connectivity first.

Amith, I face this issue with any LCS downloads in India (irrespective of the download speed).

Surprisingly, the downloads go much faster on the downloaded VMs. If you still have the old VM, please try downloading the files there. It might be faster. I am not sure of the reason for this either.

I just try downloading part 1 it from LCS , the newest one 10.0.13 and indeed it is slow . Just to download single part its taking 8-10 mins with very good internet speed which usually happens very fast.

Hi Amith,

The best way is to use Azcopy, it will be much faster than traditional download

In LCS asset library, you can find the button to generate SAS link

then download azcopy binary

Connection from your location to the data center in which the VHD download is located (looks like US West) is typically the biggest factor.

However, we've seen this every time in the April/October timeframe when we just release these new VHDs that many people are downloading these large files at the same time and there is a noticeable decrease in performance because of it.
