The time appears to be automatically converted to UTC in the activity timeline. Is there a way to force it to show local time?
If not, are there plans for the future to allow this?
Thanks,
Ben
Thank you very much for this input.
Ok, created this idea. Hope it makes sense.
Hello,
Can you please try the following.
1. Navigate to your CRM or DataVerse environment
2. Click Gear Icon at the top --> Select Personalization Settings
3. Change the TimeZone to your Local TimeZone
That's it :-)
I see that the current solutions we provide are limiting the readability of these time stamps in both the CI web app and in our D365 card add-in. I assume the problem is with displaying activity timestamps, not the fact that the activity table stores dates in UTC.
About the timeline in the D365 card-add-in:
The mid-term goal is to use the standard timeline component for PP apps rather than our custom one. This will show CI activities with the same level of user experience as other timeline data in Power Apps and Dynamics 365 products.
About Customer view in CI:
We would like to invite you to propose this additional functionality in our Ideas forum to gather further input and votes. Please describe when and how you would like to see raw data (UTC) and when which time zone.
Hi Nils,
Having activities only in UTC is frustrating. Especially when showing data to users, where time will be off.
We are showing the timeline in D365 CE with the Customer Insights customer card add-in, which I guess would be characterized as "main consumption". I believe that time zone is also UTC there?
Having the UI respect the time-zone settting in CI is certainly great wish from us.
Hi Ben,
Customer Insights does offer a Customers view in our app, which serve as a basic example of what data is in CI for a single customer. This page is not aiming to be a main consumption place of CI data for our users.
This is why scenarios like adapting to the user's local time zone are not supported.
The recommended consumption service for CI data is Dataverse with its Power Platform connectors and API. Learn more about working with Customer Insights data in Microsoft Dataverse.
Correct, perhaps using the Customer Insights System Timezone. Otherwise the end user will have to add 12-13 hours on each time (for the NZ timezone)
Hi Ben - the UTC time is shown to disambiguate the end user's activity across timezones. Is the suggestion here to view the timeline in the timezone of the viewer, i.e. yours?
