What role/task do users need to be able to access Customize this page?

Richard, do you have any third party products installed?

I ask because, an upgrade shouldn't be removing security for users and we haven't seen this issue despite most likely many customers upgrading to 18.3.1200.

In fact, we don't even have GP Utilities putting new records into the security tables for fear we'd overwrite something, hence the blogs we have to manually insert missing and new security roles and task records.

That being said, we have seen a case or two where a third party has removed records from the SY10500 table, which is the table that holds which security roles are assigned to users, per company database.

    Thanks,

Tanks for this detailed explanation. Another example why GP Power Tools is an essential component of every GP consultant's toolbox.

In this case, applying the GP 18.3.1200 service pack was the culprit. For some reason for two of the users it completely removed their security assignments.

    Hi Richard

You have your NFR GP Power Tools install to help you.

    While logged on as 'sa'.

Open the Security Profiler and click on the Customize this page link.

This tells us that the window you need is Customize Home Page (syHomePageMain).

Click on the window and click the Security button to open Security Information.

On the Security Information window expand the system level.

This tells us that the DEFAULTUSER Task is required.  This task is added to all default Security Roles, so access to any default Security Role should give you access.

If you have created your own roles, be sure to add the DEFAULTUSER Task to those roles. This gives access to all the lookups and standard windows that all users need access to.

If you want to know exactly what is in DEFAULTUSER Task, change the right hand pane to View by Security Task (System Level), Select DEFAULTTASK on the right hand pane and then click Show Resources.

On the Security Information Resources window, click on the checkboxes to change the selected resources.
