Running Azure downloaded Dynamics AX VHD - Windows Server 2012 R2 Data Center Evaluation

Hello,

I am starting to learn MS Dynamics AX and since I am self learner I did not find an easy way to get  VHD. Finally I signed up for Azure Trial and was able to setup a Dynamics AX on VM. I downloaded the VHD and using Hyper-V I loaded the VHD but it never loads up to the point where I can just login. It is stuck at loading group policy client.

I can however use active directory repair safe mode and login to the system. I assume this server was part of a domain which is not available on Hyper-V

domain name in safe mode I can see is contoso.com

I have i-7 HQ processor with 16GB RAM.

    Hi,

What exact version of the VM with AX7 did you download? What settings did you do in Hyper V manager?

Check if you have assigned at least 10GB memory to the machine with 50 percent of you cores.

Did you create a virtual network having internet access?

Are you running the VHD on a SSD or hard drive and is this the same drive as your OS or another?

VM is Windows Server 2012 R2 Data Center. Yes I have assigned 10 GB of RAM and default settings for processors.

Yes V-Network is setup and has internet access.

    Hi Muhammad,

If you continue having problems with this VM, I would suggest to download a new VM and retry.

    Hi Andre,

I was able to go past that point with some patience. After I logged in with user and password, system always invokes shutdown procedure. At this point, I agree it is only feasible to get a new VHD which serves this purpose.

    Hi Muhammad,

It might be the case that the license for Windows server was expired. It is possible to rearm the license or indeed get the latest version of the VM.
