I'm in the process of testing the use of the manufacturing component of NAV for my organization and I'm running into a problem where the demand I've created in the production forecast is not being included when I run the MPS. As far as I can tell I've set everything up properly but I just can't explain why this is happening. Any ideas for what might be causing this?

I was able to determine what the problem was. The "Location Mandatory" box in "Inventory Setup" was selected but no value had been selected in the "Components at Location" field in "Manufacturing Setup" resulting in the MPS not having a location to schedule planning items when global demand was included in the production forecast.
This is really strange.
I simply create new item and entered value in only few fields like Description, UOM, Reordering Policy, Maximum Order Quantity, Maximum Inventory and further entered the Production Forecast for that particular item.
It is working perfectly fine without any issue.
Have you checked in Cronus database?
The "Maximum Inventory" is 50 with a "Reorder Point" of 10. This doesn't seem to be the cause of the problem because I've tried many different combinations of forecast demand greater than and less than the maximum quantity and it didn't have any impact.
I tried changing the "Replenishment System" on the inventory card to Prod. Order and Assembly and then running the MPS again and it didn't have any impact either.
What is the Max. Quantity that you have put at Item Card? Is this issue because of that?
Try changing the Replenishment System and see the results.
I had already tried changing the demand numbers, creating forecast demand for other items, and creating a new production forecast all with no luck. I did it again just now and the forecast demand still isn't being included when I run the MPS. However, if I create sales orders the MPS will create planning lines for the sales order items but still excludes any forecast demand even though I have made sure that the forecast demand is in excess of the sales order demand.

Check for some other item or production forecast?
This is very standard, and should work without any issue. Check Manufacturing Setup and see if any parameter change would help.
When I run the MPS I do not get any errors, but the MPS does not create any planning lines related to the forecast demand.
The "Replenishment System" field on the item card for the item is set to "Purchase".
Are you getting any error related to calendar?
What is the "Replenishment System" type for that Item?
