Dynamics 365 CE and Adobe Marketo sync.

Hi Everyone,

We have a question regarding the Dynamics 365 CE and Adobe Marketo sync.

Our Dynamics 365 CE environment was recently refreshed, and as part of the refresh we recreated the Teams. Although the new Teams have the same names as the old ones, they now have different GUIDs.

The old Team records still exist in Marketo, and the newly created Teams are not syncing from Dynamics because Marketo appears to recognize the existing records with the same names.

Has anyone encountered this scenario before?

Specifically, we'd like to know:

  • Is there a way to remove the old Dynamics Team records from Marketo?

  • Can we force Marketo to sync the newly created Team records from Dynamics after an environment refresh?

  • Are there any recommended workarounds or best practices for handling Team synchronization after a Dynamics environment refresh?

Any guidance or experience with Adobe Marketo and Dynamics 365 integration would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Yes,this is a known issue when Dynamics 365 CE environments are refreshed and integrated with Adobe Marketo Sales Insight (MSI) or Marketo Engage. The root cause is that Dynamics Team records are identified by their GUID (primary key), not by their name. After an environment refresh:

    1. The original Team records in Dynamics are deleted or replaced.
    2. Newly created Teams have new GUIDs, even if the names are identical.
    3. Marketo still retains references to the old GUIDs, so it treats the existing Team names as already synced and doesn't create new records.

    Why this happens?

The Marketo-Dynamics sync relies on the Dynamics primary key (teamid). Since the GUID changes after recreating the teams, Marketo cannot match the new records to the old ones based on name alone
    Solution:
Delete the old Team records from Marketo:
If the Team object is synchronized into Marketo, the cleanest approach is to remove the stale Team records so Marketo can import the new ones. This usually requires assistance from Adobe Marketo Support, as synchronized CRM objects often cannot be deleted directly through the Marketo UI.
