Alternatives to SSRS report designing

Hello all!

I have to design many Reports for client in D365 Finance and Operations.
We have the SSRS report designer but I feel like its too slow not efficient.
My reports are mostly static in design and have only few fields to be populated with data like Pre printed registration forms etc.

Is there a tool to design or to copy design from maybe a Word document or a PDF and convert it to SSRS report design (rdl files).
Moreover, can i use word documents or PDF documents as templates? Like I will have some placeholder text in it and I can replace it with data in X++.

You won't be able to generate RDL files from Word documents (AFAIK), but there is a way how you can use Word to design reports. Check out Business document management.

Hi,

As Martin mentioned,You won't be able to generate RDL files from Word documents,

and you can generates reports as PDF files by using fillable PDF documents as report templates.

You can use the electronic reporting business documents as an alternative.
