why suggested PO generated from PO Generator consider weekend /holidays in GP 2018.

Posted on by

I have one question .we are not using GP- Manufacturing. but we are using purchasing /sales/Inventory  module IN GP. The purchase lead time is also defined in item resource planning  and it creates the PO with the possible receipt date. but there is no calendar to define weekend /Holidays. so purchase order created from PO Generator in GP don't consider  weekend /holidays and as a result GP creates a po which shows the wrong possible require receipt date .

Is there any way if I could make GP not consider weekends/holidays so that PO would show  the correct possible required date from this vendor .

Further a vendor may have schedule to deliver product only on 4 days a week rather than 5 days a week but we have nothing in MS Dynamics Great PLain looks like GREAT PAIN now

I mean this is a very common issue.

There is an add-on I've recommended called Vendor Price Management from m-hance. It is distributed by Dynavistics.

In it are some tweaks for the PO Generator/Inventory including an option to set the days the vendor delivers. You can set up the days items are usually delivered in vendor/inventory site combinations -- there is a checkbox for each day of the week.

When suggesting POs in the PO Generator there is a checkbox added to move the promised date to the next vendor delivery date.

This wouldn't handle the holiday, but it would handle the weekends.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

I do think that it would be a great suggestion to create a lead time calendar that you could fill out to include or exclude days for PO Generator, and others may find that useful.  Purchase Order Generator is really a light MRP that has been part of Microsoft Dynamics GP for a very long time, and this has not been a feature that we have seen other users requesting over those many years, so my guess would be that either the heavier users that need the calendars are using more of the Manufacturing Module's MRP or have an add-on solution in place that does this for them.
