I was wondering if it was possible to configure the export of a Smartlist to Excel online, instead of the physical app?
Or does anyone have any other suggestions how to export to excel when the user only has a O365 Business Basic license?

If you do not have excel installed on your system and that's why wants to export excel directly to Excel online then it wouldn't work as the code behind the Excel button work only when there is excel otherwise gives error.
If you have excel installed and want to save these excel on cloud and that's why looking for the solution then you can save to OneDrive and for that you need to have OneDrive folder setup to your computer.
And if you are looking for pure automation reasons, like just click the Excel button and excel will save on OneDrive folder without opening the excel and then user needs to save it manually as we usually do then this will means some customization.
