Does Marketing Support Multiple Recipients, Attachments, cc:, and bcc:?

Hello,

We're looking into using Marketing and have some questions.

  • Does it support sending emails to multiple recipients (more than one name in the To: line)?
  • Would we be able to send emails with attachments?
  • Is it possible to send emails with a cc: and/or bcc: address?
  • Could it do all this at once?

Thanks,

Beth

    Hi Jones,

You can include 5 people in that company in a segment then send marketing emails to them.

Currently there is no connector in Power Automate or APIs in plug-in to send marketing emails.

You could host your attachments on external web server then paste direct download link to a button element in your marketing email as alternative solution.

Then if recipient clicks the button, then the file will begin to download or be opened in a new browser tab.

    Thanks for the response, Clofly.

These emails wouldn't be sent using the standard activities email. They'd be from the new Marketing app.  Would we still have to use Power Automate or a plug-in for the attachments?

    Thanks for the response, Raju!

I think the answer is "NO" but just to clarify:  We couldn't use the new Marketing app to send an email with PDF attachments to 5 people at the same company and have our execs copied (cc/bcc) on that email?

    Hi Jones,

    1. Marketing email can be sent to multiple recipients by populating To field with: {{contact.emailaddress1}}, which means that the email will be sent to all members in segment who are invovled in customer journey.

    2. By default neither activity email nor marketing email couldn't send emails with attachments.

    You could consider using Power Automate(Flow) to achieve this requirement in OOB way;

    https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/General-Power-Automate/Send-email-with-attachment/td-p/76976

    https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/General-Power-Automate/send-email-with-attachment/td-p/142722

Or you could create a custom plug-in in CRM to send activity email with attachment: http://www.ariclevin.com/Blog/Post/create-email-message-with-attachments

But we should know that only activity email supports to be extended for adding attachments.

    3. cc and bcc address are supported in activity email.

    4. I think you could work with Power Automate or a custom plug-in.

    Regards,

    Clofly

    Dear Jones,

    Greetings!

Marketing email messages target entire market segments, but each message is individual

Your marketing email messages aren't just standard messages with giant To or Bcc fields. Long lists of recipients are difficult to manage and analyze, and messages that do this will typically get swept up by spam filters and never be delivered to your contacts. In Dynamics 365 Marketing, you'll target a single marketing email message design to an entire marketing segment, but each individual message is personalized for each recipient and delivered, one at a time, from your organization to the recipient.
