Hi,
I configured a new prod region for the HR app using the instructions here,

I have added users with the appropriate security roles. They are able to access the app using the link here.

Is there a way add this app to the Dynamics 365 apps tab on office 365?
Or obtain a shorter URL? or customize like mycompanyname.talent.dynamics.com etc?

I am not sure whether it is possible but If you login to Office 365 account portal you can see Dynamics 365 F&O, CRM environment directly link with your account.
I guess your admin team can help you to add an environment there. Users can go to their office 365 account and they can access from there.
Another option: You can add a custom tile to the office 365 account and add a link. This is only possible when you have Admin access.

There is a more easy URL which would redirect you to the correct HR environment: signin.hr.talent.dynamics.com/
Custom URLs are not possible.
You can also install the URL as a Windows 10 app using the new Edge browser: dynamicspedia.com/.../
