Got a couple questions to see if anyone else is running into this issue. I've found a couple people talking about it but their solution was just to go a different route with a different app. My issue though is when our operators in the Warehouse are running the app(which is on our Zebra TC8000 scanners) throughout the day whenever they are performing an actual work function like picking/building pallets if they switch to a different wireless AP it causes the app to freeze up for anywhere between 30 seconds to 7-8 minutes. At first we thought it was the network so we really dug in made a ton of modications added/removed hardware etc.
We then noticed it was also happening when on my laptop or phone. So we put some software onto the scan guns to do multiple test. First thing was some network scanners, one was setup to upload a 1GB file continuously to Azure, and one was to let us manage the network settings on the gun itself.
- Settings: We changed it to not allow it to switch back and fourth between AP's as often as it was just incase that was causing an issue.
- Upload/Download: We would start the upload and drive back and fourth in the facility(1,000,000 sq ft building) and the downloads or uploads would never fail.
- If we drove around the building as fast as our equipment lets us we could do a LPN inquiry or location inquiry and it would work every time but thats just a one time job if that makes sense.
Hope that gives some decent information, any thoughts would deffinitly be welcomed. It's become our #1 issue in our Warehouse at this point. I've reached out to a couple VARs as well as Microsoft so I'll update this thread should anything be discovered. Thank you!
