Can someone explain the difference between using the SECURITY ROLE USER SELECTION option or not.I have done some test but I do not understand the behavior

Regarding your question about the SECURITY ROLE USER SELECTION option

Our team cannot tell which product in Dynamics 365 you are using, so we can only make some guesses

We believe that this feature selects the permissions needed to execute the workflow, and if the user does not have the permissions, the workflow will not execute.

You may be testing with an account that has system administrator privileges, so this option will not work.

In addition, based on the above guess, would you mind answering the following questions, which will help our team to locate the problem more effectively and propose a solution

1. Which product in Dynamics 365 are you using specifically? Is the interface shown in your picture a native feature of that product?

2. Will there be different results if you repeat your actions with a less privileged account?

Hi Daniel,

In my post below, I opened the wrong form for checking out this field. I verified the purpose of this field. When you have a workflow with a setup to include users from a particular role, you might need to have different persons assigned to the workflow per legal entity.

E.g. The purchase order approval might be assigned to the users with the security role Purchasing manager. You don't want to have the manager from DEMF being able to approve orders in the USMF company.

In case this option is enabled, it will check if the user has permissions in the specific legal entity where the workflow document is located. In case a user has an organization assignment where he is the purchasing manager for DEMF, he will not be added as user to approve a PO in the USMF company. Note that if there is no organization assignment, then also the user has permissions to the legal entity.

@RudyZhang, There was an issue on the new community platform where the Dynamics 365 Finance forum link opened this forum. Some Dynamics 365 F&O related questions ended up in the Dynamics 365 general forum. I asked the Community administrators if they can move the questions to the correct forum.
