Role based legal entity access inheritance to Financial Reporting

ReportReport

Hi,

Within D365 F&O we can set at the user level the legal entity access, my question was around if we have a global Financial Report does the user security reflect on what data (ie legal entities) a user can see when they run a report within D365 F&O.

I think its possible to have reporting hierarchies linked to a version of the report and then limit the report access via an XDS policy at a folder level.

Cheers

    Hello Alex,

The financial reports work with something that is called unit security.

Its similar to XDS but works only for financial reports and needs to be set up separately in the financial report designer.

You can find some information here:

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

Thanks for your quick reply and it makes sense. Was just wondering if there was some dark art I was missing...

From an access to data perspective what I was wondering is if you set the user security at a legal entity level, using a Organization hierarchy with the purpose of security, does the same apply across Financial Reporter at a legal entity level.

There is also the issue of access to the specific reports, this seems to only be available through XDS.

Thanks again for the response, I will do some testing around this.

    Hi Alex,

The two links you provided in your last reply is related to set access permissions within Finance and Operations; menu items and what data you will see. You can then indeed restrict which reports are visible and accessible.

Financial reports are build upon data stored in a data mart database where XDS is not used anymore. It is using Management Reporter which is a separate solution to create reports for all Dynamics ERP solutions, like GP, AX, NAV and F&O. In F&O it is embedded to look as an integrated solution. The Unit security in Management reporter is definitely worth having a look at. This would prevent you from creating multiple different reports for different users.
