Analyze data button dose not work

ReportReport
Posted on by 517

In many forms of AX 2012 R2 for example "all sales order" and "all purchase orders"  there is a button named as "analyze data", which sould open power view report designer. But in my system i always get message like "The Accounts receivable cube, which this report uses as a data source, has not yet been deployed. Deploy and process the Accounts receivable cube and then run this report again". Actually I already depolyed the cubes and also have them processed.

I checked the code the failure happened in "SrsReportHelper::isPowerViewModelDeployed":

isPowerViewModelDeployed = SrsReportHelper::isPowerViewConfigured() &&
SrsReportHelper::areCubesDeployed() &&
SrsReportHelper::isDaxMdSupported(_cubeName);

The first two checking passed and return TRUE, while "isDaxMdSupported" return FALSE. What does "DAXMd"? How can i do with this? Thanks

    Hi,

    As the "Analyze data" button relies on SQL Server 2012 PowerView specific system requirements have to be met. See social.msdn.microsoft.com/.../4c10b42f-da74-4f34-9578-5a2112ada2eb

    Presumably in your environment this is not the case.

    I assume DAXMD stands for Data Analysis eXpressions MultiDimensional and refers to the new BISM / Tabular model paradigm that Power View depends on.

    Be aware that meeting these system requirements carries a significant dollar amount in terms of needed licenses and installing the required software components is non-trivial.

    Thanks Marcel for your infomation. I have my AX 2012 R2 installed on Sql server 2012 (CU1) in company with Sharepoint foundation 2010. It should be the reason of version Sharepoint witch does not meet the requirement for power viewer. What confused me is why this button is visible while my enviroment is not fully qualified. I checked the associated menu item "CreatePowerViewReportCustCube". It does not have "configuration" key which means I cannot disable this button via license configuration.

    Currently, my environment is running on SharePoint 2010 + April 2013 CU Enterprise edition and I also faced the same issue. My SQL 2012 applied on SP1 + CU4 which stated is an requirement in order to activate Power Pivot features. My Power pivot is running smoothly in my Enterprise portal and i can manage Power pivot data sources using browser with Silverlight.

    However, AX client still think the isDaxMdSupported is not enabled. I'm still trying hard to look up for the answer.

    Marcel, do you know is there a way to refresh AX mind on this parameter?

    For information, i have tested the following steps:-

    > clear off my ax client cache file

    > refresh caches under tool > development

    > Reset data usage completely

    > restart AOS

    I managed to find a solution to let AX on refreshing some cache information by removing the Analysis server. Go to System admin > Setup > BI > Analysis services > Analysis servers.

    Lookup the record with initial as Partition key and delete from the form. Go to All Customer form and click the Analyze data under Ribbon toolbar.

    Bingo, in my environment the message disappear and bring me up a browser and showing the Power view.

    Go back to the Analysis servers form and notice the Initial record is created by AX.

    Hi, Tony,

    Good to hear you found the answer to your own question. Your original question was unclear as to what AX 2012 (R2?!) version you were using. Also you talked about PowerPivot whereas you apparently meant Power View.

    Some other info you might find relevant: blogs.msdn.com/.../enabling-power-view-on-multidimensional-models-for-microsoft-dynamics-ax-2012-r2.aspx

    Hi Marcel,

    I'm on DAX 2012 R2 at the moment and thanks for sharing the blog. I have been following this and went on with the suggestion.

    I'm so glad my problem is now resolved and one problem out from my issue list.

    Regards.

    In my case it nots working ... though I deleted the server, and AX re-created it again. But unfortunately I am still having the same message.

    Any help !
