Hi everyone, I want to simplify the process for approving a timesheet. Each employee should be able to approve their own timesheet. As a result, we no longer need the submitted step.Does anyone know how I can do this? I've made a few other adjustments in Dynamics, but I'm missing the first approach here.

This HR administration module is not part of standard Dynamics 365 Human resources. Can you check if you are using PSA or an ISV solution based on Dynamics 365?

If I understand correctly you want to skip the approval process and every employee should approve their timesheets automatically. Is there any situation when the timesheet should run through workflow ? And would you need a real approval ?
Because if not - I would setup automatic approval in the Timesheet workflow. Set some dummy condition and set timesheet status to approved. Then all timesheets will be approved without any manual action needed.

It seems that you are working with a Model Driven App (custom HR solution). The stages you are seeing for the approval of the timesheet are actually the stages of business process flow. These can be edited and the business logic can be modified in the solution explorer.
