I assume PR as Purchase Requisition

as per my understanding if Purchase Requisition line is in editable status then we can change the unit of measurement of item, it should not be any issue.

as per my understanding Unit of Measurement is populated based on Purchase unit of Measure setup in Item Master

you need to consider a customization over here as PurchUnitOfMeasurement is a Reference RecId field

Please verify and update us if you need more details.

Is there a big impact if we customize ??

Why microsoft ships the one with reference field, do you know the reason behind ?

Customization will be of low effort..

Reference field is one of the standard technique in Dynamics AX 2012, and this concept is implemented across many functionality in Dynamics AX 2012

So if we are customize, we have to

    - add the unit field in PurchReqLine table

    - when release Purchase Order from Purchase Requisitions, do we have to change the logic to pick up from this field instead ??

    - not sure whether there is another place to change ??

and if it is easy like this, why microsoft does not ship this functionality in standard function ? Is there any big reason behind ??
