Hi guys,

Hope you are doing good.

Recently i have a requirement to convert a word document to pdf file.

I googled it but didn't find a convincing way to do it.

Can you please suggest me some easy ways with an actual working example ?

I am curious to know if it is possible with .Net Code in D365 finance and operations without using any external libraries.

NOTE:  If you will suggest any external libraries from nuget packages then please provide me a proper link with a working example.

    Hi Akhilesh,

Can you tell about the business process here? What makes you having the need to convert a word document?

If it is about the configurable business documents to send e.g. an invoice in pdf, then Microsoft is already working on improvements to make this possible using Electronic reporting.

    Hello Akhilesh Kukshal,

I don't really see the relationship to D365FO here.

If you simply need to change a word document to pdf then you could possibly make use of the PowerPlatform.

There is a special forum available for that where I just provided you a link to one of the solutions other community members found.

    Please see:

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Andre,

I have 2 custom button on Standard Email Message screen.

One button is used to export email message as word document and 2nd button is used to export email message as a pdf document.

I am able to export email message as a word document but i am facing difficulty for pdf.

Also it is not related to send a standard document. whatever email message is there i need to export them as word or pdf documents.

    Hi Ludwig

This link have quite interesting information which will help for future incomings.

But for now as per my requirement, which i explain in above Andre's comment. When i click on export to word document button , system should give me the option as shown in below screenshot:

I don't think it is possible to achieve this thing by using power automate.

In future if i have requirement to save the file over one drive or SharePoint then definitely power automate is a better approach.

    Hi Akhilesh Kukshal,

What kind of document is that you want to have as a PDF?

Is Electronic Reporting and ability to convert Electronic Reporting documents to a PDF an option?

This would work out of the box.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludweig

    I have few doubts here

    1. Electronic reporting requires a lot of setup. For each process i need to setup the configuration.? right?

    2. Does my current application version Application Version 10,  supports the PDF Conversion functionality.? Do you have any links where i can see how exactly this functionality works

    Hi Akhilesh,

You can find some information on the PDF conversion for electronic reports here:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../electronic-reporting-destinations

It should work fine if you operate PU10.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Akhilesh,

Two custom buttons on an email message form is not a business requirement; it is a technical attempt to fulfill a requirement. What is the requirement and the related business process?
