Enable Power BI for onebox cloud hosted development environment D365 F&O

Hi everyone,

I want to enable the standard Power BI reports in my cloud hosted development environment.

Is it mandatory to have LCS project connected in System parameters?
When I am trying to connect to LCS, I am getting error as
/The authentication process was not successful. Please contact your system administrator./

What's the rootcause of this and how to fix it?

Setting up PowerBI embedded and Analytical workspaces in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations in a OneBox Environment – JohanPersson.nu

Asking this because when I am navigating to Customer Credit and collection workspace and clicking on Analytics, I am getting blank screen.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Rhushikesh,

This has been a while ago for me. I don't think the LCS connection is required. You indeed need to follow the steps as outlined in the blog posts. Note that there might be changes done in the meantime that could make the steps to perform confusing. Please update this question if you start setting up and you get stuck or if you succeeded.

    Hi,
You can check this blog which mentions about the workaround for this issue which you can try.
    https://laptrinhx.com/d365fo-the-authentication-process-was-not-successful-please-contact-your-system-administrator-error-during-connect-to-lifecycle-services-setup-712922261/#:~:text=Before%20first%20use%2C%20system%20administrator%20should%20authorize%20D365FO,library%E2%80%9D%20%E2%80%9CConnect%20to%20Lifecycle%20Services%E2%80%9D%20dialog%20pops%20up.
Enabling standard Power BI reports in FO's cloud-hosted development environment does not necessarily require a connection to LCS, but it may be beneficial for various management purposes.
If you encounter a blank screen when you navigate to the Customer Credit and Collections workspace and click Analyze, it could be due to a number of reasons, including a configuration error in the Power BI integration or an issue with the report itself.
Check your Power BI report for errors. Ensure reports and dashboards are published and functioning correctly in Power BI.
Verify that the workspace configuration and integration settings in D365 FO are correct.
Make sure users have the necessary permissions to access reports and data in Power BI.
Consider checking the D365 FO and Power BI logs for any relevant error messages.
    Best Regards,
    Hana

    Hy,

as things are changing fast, the future will be to deploy F&O using PPAC (Power Platform Admin Center).

This is the approach of One Dynamics One Platform (ODOP). This is still in preview, but for now it works already to have PowerBI embedded to be configured when you deploy a new environment - and you can consume all the embedded analytical workspaces when you activate them to be refreshed in the entity store. To deploy a new environment follow these steps Unified admin experience for finance and operations apps (preview) - Power Platform | Microsoft Learn.
    Hope this helps.

    Herzliche Grüße / kind regards,

Thank you everyone for your responses.
As suggested by Andre, I will start configuring it. And will keep this thread open for a while.

I will verify the answers in couple of days.

    Hy again,
as a specific configuration is needed to get the embedded Power BI reports running within the User Interface and this has changed multiple time, I figured out to access and to evaluate the content of any of the embedded analytical reports firect on the Cloud hosted environment using RDP.
Connect to the CHE using RDP, ensure that Power BI Desktop is installed on the VM, use either Visual Studio to access the pbix resource files or search for the PBIX files using file explorer on the Service volume to get a copy of the desired PBIX files. Also ensure that the Entity Store is configured well to have the desired analytical data prepared and exported to the AXDW database. Then you can open the PBIX file and use the report to evaluate the structure and content of a specific report.

    Hi there

Try installing the On-premise Data Gateway for Power BI and enable the existing Entity Store on the one-box VM. This way seems much cleaner to me, and you won’t get an invoice from Microsoft at the end of every month for the Azure database.

The following YouTube video takes you through it step-by-step:
