Lost program icon

The shortcut for Microsoft SQL Server Option for the CSIDE Client previously pinned to my Taskbar disappeared recently. I was able to restore the shortcut from the Microsoft Dynamics NAV program group in All Programs from my Start menu, but now the correct icon for the shortcut is only visible when the program is actually running on my client.. Otherwise, when it’s not running the visible icon is this very plain, generic looking one.

Anybody know what might have happened, and how I can restore the normal icon?

    Hi

What you need to do is to first right click on the generic icon on your desktop, select unpin to remove it

Next on your start menu click on NAV to launch it, then while it is running right click on the program button on your task bar and choose "Pin to the task bar"

This will ensure that the link relates directly to the program

    Hope this helps

Oh Nev, you filled me with hope! [for a moment... ] I'm afraid found no happiness after following your directions. Thank you much though, for replying so quickly.

Hmm, strange one, by recreating the link like above it should have used the icon on the application,

Sounds like you may need to get your IT Guys involved on this, there are 2 things that they can do, check the icon of the EXE in the NAV application folder (Properties on finsql.exe & Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Server.exe) and if nothing there an uninstall / reinstall of the NAV client might do the trick

I did finally get this resolved...

I un-pinned the shortcut from my task bar, then deleted the shortcut from my desktop, and the one from my NAV programs group in the Start menu. Then I created a new shortcut on my desktop directly from the actual executable in the programs folder of my PC. That one was working properly, and showing the correct icon. I then pinned that new shortcut to my task bar, and copied the new desktop shortcut to the NAV programs group in my Start menu. Now it's all good!

Thanks for your efforts to be helpful - much appreciated.
