Error: There are multiple expiration dates registered for lot after doing a Item Reclass. Journal

I've found several hotfixes related to error: "There are multiple expiration dates registered for lot XXXX". However they don't seem to work with this particular situation when I use a Reclassification Journal.

The case is:

- I create a new product with required batch number and expiration date.

- I purchase this product and create a new batch and expiration date

- Later I find out, I made a mistake in the expiration date, so I create a reclassification journal and update the expiration date.

- I sell this product and batch, so that I have zero stock left.

- I create a new purchase order of the same product and batch. When i receive this order, I get error :"There are multiple expiration dates registered for lot XXXX"

This is even happening after updating to NAV 2013 R2 CU14

can anyone confirm if this bug is in their system as well?
Is there any other procedure for correcting expiry dates other than reclassification journal?

Thanks.

Hi Ghetz, it's a really interesting and frustrating problem!

Do you register your batch numbers manually (filling in) or do you assign them automatically?

You could consider using the no. series to automatically assign a unique number, but that's a workaround, not a fix.

With food products we assigned a new batch number if we had a different expiration date.

You could use the reclass journal like this:

Batch Number 001  -3 items     expiry date 28/01/2015

New Batch Number 002 +3 items     expiry date 29/01/2015

    Thanks for the answer,

Yes at table level the problem indeed is that we have the same lot with different expiry dates in Item Ledger Entry; this is as a result of the reclass. journal.

I just want to confirm with the community that this is a bug in Microsoft's code, and if there is any news about the release of a hotfix.

We can't just modify the item ledger entry, as we need a permanent solution in the case a lot is reclassified and changed the expiry date.

We're thinking maybe to modify the code of the reclass. journal, so that the wrong expiry date record is marked somehow but a hotfix would be better of course. :)

    Hi Ghetz,

I've had this issue at a company I've worked before, we had NAV 2013.

But it only occured when undoing a posted assembly order.

The quick & dirty solution was to create a report which changes the multiple expiration dates into one expiration date without a development license, but this won't be the solution for you..

It sounds like your stock is 0 but is it really, try to check the item ledger entries for that specific item.
