Hi,

Currently I have a fiscal year which run from 1st April till 31st March. Is it possible to change this to run from January till December? 

Please note that this fiscal year is already opened.

    Hi Alexander,

    Extending your current FY shouldn't be a problem.. all you have to do is go into the FY setup and add the required period # and make sure the start/end dates are correct.

    Administration >> Setup >> Company >> Fiscal Periods

    Don't forget to reconcile your GL to update your summary if required.  As always recommended, make a full backup of your company before doing any sensitive changes in the system and if possible, try the new setup first in a TEST company.

    PS: pay a special attention to your dates.. because when you click on the 'Calculate' button in the FY periods setup, GP is going to redistribute evenly the total range across the number of periods you chose to enter.. Going from a 12-periods FY to an 21-periods FY is going to recreate all the starting dates, so just make sure they are aligned with what you had previously until the date of change.

    You'll also need to make sure your dates do not overlap. Is January - April already in the previous year? If so, you'll need to end the previous year as a short year.
