Project accounting budget revision

Hi,

I setup my project to enable budget control and to disallow overruns under Project management and accounting>>Common>>Projects>>All projects.

I created a project budget and it was approved.

Then I posted expense transactions in Project accounting expense journal.

Since I have budget, the system allow me to post the transactions.

Then I created a budget revision.

My revision is to zero out my original budget and therefore there is no more budget for the project.

Why does the system allow me to make a revision to zero out my budget since I already posted an expense journal for this project?

When I check on project budget balances, the balance is negative.

Is it the behavior of the system?

I'm using AX2012 R3.

Appreciate your inputs.

Thanks.

    Hi marypeace,

To my knowledge there is no budget check run at the time you send the budget revision into the workflow.

That's why you seem to get this interesting result.

Have you tried using ledger budgets in parallel?

You can transfer the project budget to a ledger budget and enable budget control.

This should prevent such a scenario.

Would be great if you could double check and let us know if this fixes your issue.

    Many thanks and best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

I enable the budget control in Budgeting module and enable budget control in project and still the system allow to make a project budget revision in negative zeroing out the original budget even though there are already consumed budget.

What can be a workaround with this in order that the system will not allow making a project budget revision to zero out the original budget if the revision is more than the consumed?

    Pls advise.

    Many thanks.

    Hi marypeace,

I don't think that there is a workaround available to achieve this.

Would recommend that you have a talk with a developer to see what can be 'tweaked' in the code to achieve this.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
