I am working on a customization, where on clicking or choosing an event, I want to prevent the user from being able to add or change anything in the detail section of the screen. I am able to do this for a field but somehow I am not able to lock down the grid section/detail section on choosing an event.
Could someone point me in the right direction to get this done. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I don't know of a way using customization manager to lock down the grid. You will have to do this field by field.
Another way do lock a grid is to just issue view rights to the screen which will disable being able to change anything in the grid. But this also will disable the header as well.
