Assign Organizations causes issues on Company Range in advanced filter

We have multiple legal entities and I have tried to restrict employees to only be able to access certain LEs.  When I assign their role with an organization it causes issues on the filtering of forms.

For example, if they go to a Project in PMA and then select Bill > invoice proposals, they should be able to see all of the proposals for that project, but the screen is blank.  If I open the Advanced filter and sort, under company range there are no company listed, when I would expect to see all companies that they have access to. I believe this is the issue.  If they navigate to all invoice proposals from PMA > project invoices > project invoice proposals they can see all of the records just fine.  Is this something I have done wrong in setup or is this a product bug?

    Hi jvermette,

In the test environment, I can display the corresponding records in all projects > bill > project invoice proposal, and at the same time I can also find the corresponding records in PMA > project invoice proposal.

    all projects >bill>project invoice proposal

    Hi Hana,

Did you assign your user account to only have access to USMF?

    Hi jvermette,

Can you tell in detail the settings you have done to restrict access to specific organizations? What roles, what organization values? Is there also any security policy (XDS) in place?

    Hi Jvermette,

No, I can also do the same under other companies. As Andre said, you can explain your settings in detail so that he can help you better.

First off thank you both for your help on this.

No Custom XDS policies. So I narrowed down my first issue, I use a custom role for Project Coordinator and it appears that I had to assign read access to ProjProposalTransTable.  The strange part is that if I grant access to all legal entities, then it I can see the proposals just fine (without this additional read access).  But when assigning an organization, then for some reason this table is required.

The other strange behavior is after making the above change, when on the invoice proposal page, if you open a proposal, and then go back to the proposal page, it applies a filter and only shows proposals with records greater than the record you just navigated back from.  For example, in the screenshots below I went to project 00000105, clicked project invoice proposals, then I selected PJIP_00000170.  After navigating back to the list of proposals, I only see those greater than PJIP_00000170.  Likely not something that I see Microsoft fixing but definitely very strange behavior

Here is a test in a standard environment with the System User an Project manager role both with only the USSI organization assigned.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have time now to investigate a bit more, but copied a link to this post in my to-do list. (preparing for the DynamicsMinds conference).

The table permissions framework (TPF) might be related to the behavior for requiring explicit table permissions, but your story sounds really odd. I wrote recently about the TPF, and shared a list with tables and fields involved. The table you were struggling with is not listed. Securing a menu item is not enough - table permissions - Dynamicspedia
