Merging with F&O

I am looking for clarification on a few items which I have found inconsistent data on throughout my research (yea for the Internet) - an information/sources you can provide is appreciated.

  1. Is MSFT now delivering the merged HR and F&O environment to their customers?
  2. If so, has anyone in this forum migrated an existing D365 HR environment to the new integrated environment?
  3. If so, what tools were used to migrate data to the new environment?
  4. Has anyone using the D365 Benefits functionality migrated this data over to the integrated environment?
  5. What (if any) tools has MSFT provided for migrating HR data (inclusive of benefits)?
  6. Has MSFT announced a deadline to migrate any stand-alone D365 HR environments to the integrated environment?
  7. What question should I be asking that I failed to ask?

BTW:  we are running D365 with benefits but starting to plan our F&O (planned for June/July 2023) and would like to roll out the HR/F&O integration when we do it but obviously want to know about data migration tools (which may be irrelevant as we are running AEC360 from HSO on top of D365, but still interested in the baseline migration tools and capabilities for data migration)

I have the same question (0)

I think this will help you:

Dynamics 365 Human Resources infrastructure merge FAQ - Human Resources | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn

    1. Customers deploying D365HR now will access a Finance environment with all the HR capabilities.
    2. As of now, you can migrate it with Data packages migrating data: exporting all HR files and importing them to the Finance environment. Another option is to use the Data Integrator from Power Platform that will migrate the information from one system to the other.
    3. Information about the migration to the new environment is yet to be published.
    4. I haven't. What is your concern?
    5. Already answered in question 2.
    6. See the FAQ link.
    7. I don´t understand, but I think most of your concerns can be solved with the link I provided.

    Hi pdxthomp

I also found this article: learn.microsoft.com/.../customer-migration

We are also in the same position, researching and trying to find out as much information as possible.

Q3. - Microsoft states " Microsoft will work with customers on the transition, to help prevent any interruption in service. Customers will have 12 to 18 months to make the transition, starting from the time when the migration tooling becomes available." ...... prior to that they state "Microsoft will provide tooling and a sandbox environment that customers can use to test and validate the data migration before they move to a production environment. The tooling will enable a near-automated process and will be available between August and November 2022.

naneurrutia, is this the data integrator that you are talking about?

If not, from what I've been reading there is still no update about this? Despite Microsoft mentioning that tools will be available between August and November.

The Data integrator (learn.microsoft.com/.../hr-admin-integration-finance) only seems to allow data flow for jobs, positions, and workers from HR to F&O. What would that mean for things like Leave and absence or performance Reviews?

    Regards,

    Casper

    Hey

Data Integrator is the solution we are currently using with some customers using Finance and HR Standalone application. As you mentioned it only migrates info one-way from HR to FnO.

With the infrastructure merge, a tool for migration will be provided, if I'm not wrong is yet to confirm. This will mean that custom integrations - as the one mentioned before - are no longer needed and all the data will be shared, as HR will be inside Finance.

    Hope this makes sense.

Thanks - with respect to #4, I was wondering if the migration includes benefit information as well as basic people data and if anyone has migrated benefits information into the merged environment.

Good questions - in general I am wondering what data is migrated and what is left behind (validating and expanding upon your readings on the Power Platform Data Integrator)

Makes perfect sense and we are optimistic that by the time we launch F&O next Summer, all of the migration issues will have been addressed and we don't have to do this at a later stage (thus avoiding the need for developing custom integrations.

I am also interest in any firms that are utilizing a 3rd party vertical Dynamics solutions like AEC360 that might require some customized migration tools.

    I appreciate everyone's experience-based contributions!

If you are looking about migration tool, then you can find the information here.

    learn.microsoft.com/.../migration-finance-operations-infrastructure

Also, check the Yammer group for Dynamics 365 HR. There you will be find more information about infra merge.

    Hi Parag Chapre ,

Thank you for the article. Is there anymore detailed information, or steps on how this migration would work with the migration tool? For example: what is needed (what infrastructure), what steps do businesses need to take (how to do it), what will transfer over, and what won't?

The article doesn't really provide much information other than the migration will be done through LCS.

There is not much information available in public but there were some sessions planned by Microsoft where they explained about merge tool. Keep checking Yammer group and follow the Yammer group for the updates.
