Creating Custom Power Bi reports in Power BI Desktop for D 365 FO

I have successfully configure D 365 FO for Power BI configuration and performed registration for Power BI

I created Power BI report using Direct Query method on AxDW of D 365 (the data was dump from one box for D 365 FO DW)

Saved the power bi file after creating a sample file with Server name as . (Period) and database name as AxDW and uploaded the file in sandbox D 365 FO LCS->Asset library and then deployed the file from D 365 FO. The file got the successfully deployed but when we are opening the report in the report catalog the report is displayed as blank and no data is displayed.

When I tried approach where I used the development environment of D365 FO wherein worked with IT admin to install the DW in SQL Azure and than created sample reports. Followed the same steps of configuration and deployment and deployed the reports in sandbox env. (ample file with Server name as . (Period) and database name as AxDW). When opening the report catalog the data is static means that data that was displayed in development env. is not getting refreshed in sandbox env.

I guess i have exhausted my option doing google search on the issue and look forward to the community to help me out.My need is simple. I need to create custome Power BI reports in sandbox and then eventually roll out in production.

Thanks

Yugank

    Hello Yugank,

    A few questions:
    1. When you refresh your entity store after running the Full reset/Deploy measures batch are you able to see data coming through into those views in the sandbox?
    2. Are you using tables in the report that sit outside D365F&SCM (tables created through external sources or are the tables D365F&SCM tables)?

    Thanks,

    1. In PROD, the entitystore is not named AxDW, but it has a GUID, which you will never know. Microsoft will manage this by modifying the  connection string, during deployment. This is in regards to connecting to the correct environment

    2. Empty data could be because, you did not refresh Entity store in PROD.
