Lock down portal for non-admins

Posted on by 120

Hello,

Is it possible to lock down a portal for maintenance and not allow any users to access it except admins?

We have a live customer self service portal and when making changes any bugs/errors that occur will affect customers using the portal since we dont have a sandbox portal to test in. Therefore we would like the option to shut down the portal when implementing new functionality so users dont get affected.

We tried with the Maintenance mode in portal settings but that disables the portal for everyone, including us, so we cannot make any changes.

Any ideas?

You can add a JS code into the "Tracking Code" content snippet, this snippet is loaded on every page in your portal

you can look for the Admin role, if the user doesn't have the role, you redirect them to a maintenance page

if that also applies to non-authenticated users, you might add some logic of ignoring pages like sign-in etc
