While not officially supported, I have seen customers use other sort orders in SQL to support other languages.

I would avoid using non-English characters in the ID fields, but in the descriptions it should work fine.

I have heard of Arabic and Hebrew used as well as other single byte (not unicode or double byte) languages working.

Double byte or unicode languages such as Japanese, Chinese and Korean don't work as well as Dexterity was never designed to handle double byte and so will treat the characters as two single byte characters. You might find that it does not render them correctly or you have to press arrow keys or delete/backspace twice to move around.

Please note that if you use a different sort order or an unsupported language, you would not be supported if an issue found cannot be replicated in a supported environment.

I would do lots of testing before you go live with this sort of change. Including data entry (both string and text fields), inquiries (including smartlists), and reports.

    Regards

    David

As Microsoft Dynamics GP is only supported on one of these two SQL collations/sort orders, usually we'll run into issues with the characters/letters in the specific language won't work with these two collations:

    Dictionary Order, Case-Insensitive (SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS)

    Binary (Latin1_General_BIN)

For example, we've had customers ask about the Arabic language characters and Chinese characters/letters and neither of those will work with the above supported SQL collations.

Also, Dexterity, which is what Dynamics GP is written in, does not support double byte character sets, which, using the example above again, is why we're not able to enter Chinese characters and have them show within the application correctly.

I haven't specifically done any testing with Myanmar and Cambodia words in Dynamics GP, but based on what you mentioned, you may be running into the two issues I mentioned here.

There may be some others on this forum community that have some experiences with Myanmar and Cambodia words used with Dynamics GP and how they got them to work, whether a third-party product and/or customization.

    Thanks
