Hi All,

I have some doubt in the Reservation locking functionality.

1. What is the difference between Locking and Unlocking the reservation.

2. If i selected the Lock check box for Warehouse, I can edit the reservation in the Reservation form for corresponding sales order.

3. Can u anybody give me the scenario for Locking and unlocking functionality in AX 2012.

Thanks and Regards,

B. Abila

Did you try with actual sales rights or Admin rights. Try this with sales user rights. It will work.

    RE: Reservation Locking

    Hi,

Yes..I have checked the scenario for Primary stocking. If i checked Primary stocking means, The Locking functionality is enabled by default for Batch number. But, I can able to edit the reserved quantity in the corresponding sales order. The same functionality is working for Unclocking also. I could not able to find the difference between locking and Unlocking.

    Thanks and Regards,

    B. Abila

    RE: Reservation Locking

    Dear Abila,

When you display a specific dimension combination in the Reservation form and then edit or enter a quantity in the Reservation field, the reservation is locked to the selected dimensions and the reserved quantity is dedicated to these dimensions. You can unlock dimensions by clearing the check boxes under Lock reservations.

If Primary stocking is specified for an item via the product dimension group, the dimension is always locked and it cannot be unlocked.

A customer calls with a request concerning a load of goods that they have ordered from your company. The customer wants to make sure that the bricks are reserved from the same warehouse that they received last time. When checking, you observe that the goods are reserved automatically, on the sales order line so you need to make sure that the reserved quantity has the correct warehouse and that the reservation is locked on specific warehouse.

    RE: Reservation Locking

You can reserve and mark items.

Reserving is a claim on inventory showing the rest of the organization that items are not available, though they are in stock.

You can not pick an item that is not reserved to the order where the picking is performed.

You can reserve by locking and un reserve if you want to break the claim. For instance if you reserve an item two weeks in advance, but then get an order that is due earlier. You might then unreserve the two week order if the other is more important or if you can see supply fulfilling the two week order in time.

Marking on the other hand is financial oriented and bypass the inventory principles like FIFO. You do this in cases where you might have a special deal on a purchase to a sales order to make sure the right cost is allocated.
