Deleting a component from a production BOM

Hi.

Customer wants to remove a consumables item from a production BOM. We don't want to replace it with another, just remove it entirely.

Is there a way to mark an component in a BOM as expired or delete it like the Replace component routine?

I tried to do an update to bom lines, but the issue is that BC at some point allowed importing of the codes with () as special characters so now the config package does not validate due to this special character. They are in the process of renaming these but there are thousands of codes.

Any advice will be appreciated.
I have the same question (0)

To remove a consumable from a production BOM without replacing it, delete the component from the BOM directly. For the issue with special characters like parentheses in item codes, use a bulk rename via Excel to clean the codes or contact a technical expert to create a custom validation rule during the import process.

    Hello

Sometimes if the config package is causing this kind of issue you can choose to not validate that field - clearly you increase the risk - but if by not validating it allows you to get the task completed and you are happy with the data then so be it!

Here I'm taking the validation off the E-mail field as an example:

The best would be to clean the data naturally!

    Cheers

I would recommend creating a new BOM Version, which is a copy of your current BOM, and make your changes there.  This way you can control when that new BOM takes effect.  To remove the component, simply select the line and then "Delete Line".  Once this new BOM version is "Certified" any future Production Orders will no longer list this component.

Also, by using Versions you maintain a history of the BOM changes over time.
