We are going to remove history older than 5 years from GP based on the company record retention policy. To prepare, I copied our Production company to test. When I run the Remove Journal utility under payroll, it does not look like it is doing anything. It eventually says "unresponsive." I have even left it run over night and it still was not finished. Has anyone else used this utility and experienced the same problem? If successful, approximately how long did it take to run? I am only removing one calendar year of data for 450 employees, so I did not expect to it take more than an hour.

I have the same question (0)Lots of tables are affected with this, and it could take some time to complete. It is best to let it run until finished. Programs will say unresponsive when running very long processes usually because the routine being run is not in a separate thread on the computer. This doesn't necessarily mean the program has crashed.
