Hello,

we have the following Situation:

OS Windows 2008 R2 for all the following server

- SQL Server 2008 R2

- AOS 1 - AOS 4 on different Server

- AOS 1 is already the Batch Server and allow now Rich-Client Sessions

- AOS 2 - AOS 4 are only for Rich-Client

Is it possible to configurate the Batch Server, which of the 8 CPU Cores ON THE SQL Server are to be used? Or will the threads only use the CPU cores on the AOS - Server?

Only the cores on the AOS indeed.

    Hi Stefan,

As Jan-Luuc mentioned it will only use the CPU from the AOS server. You can't determine which cpu core will be used. Even not on the AOS machine.

    Thanks for your replay.

    It's like I expected.

    One more question for Understanding:

    - How does the SQL Server Balance its cores while running 8 Batch Jobs on AOS1 + (new) AOS 2? Is it an intenal balanceing of the SQL-Server?

    Hi Stefan,

This is indeed the task for the SQL server to find out the best approach. The AOS only sends query instructions to SQL, it is not taking over the database engine.

    Thanks,

    one more question :)

The form "Server configuration" - Tab "Batch Server schedule"

--> On this form, i'm able to configure the Maxium Batch threads. What is the meaning of this?

    1. The maxium number of Batch Jobs which can run at the same time on the AOS?

    2. The Maximum number of threads / tasks within one Batch Job?
