End user can still edit a BOM line when View BOM line duty is selected

We are setting up security in AX2012.  For a role where the duty View BOM lines is selected, the end user still has the ability to add/delete lines as well as changing quantities on individuat lines.  Has anyone else seen this issue and what can be done to correct it?

Jim Lloyd, did you find any solution to this? I struggle with the same problem.

You can use some methods to prevent this or find the cause:

    - Use override permissions on the role itself to set the acces level to read.

    - In the AOT find the menu item or form used and right click. Choose Add ins, Security tools, View related security roles. Then you will see the related duties and privileges and the corresponding access level.

    - Use the security development tool to find the cause.

It is also possible that there is a design issue on another form. In this case it is harder find. You have to explore all forms using the BOM line table.

I have seen a similar issue if not the same one.  In my case it was due to the BOMDesigner form granting some "Delete" level permissions to another form for users that have "Read" permissions to the BOMDesigner form.  See the path AOT\Forms\BOMDesigner\Permissions\Read\AssociatedForms\BOMDesignerEditBOM and you will see in its properties that the access level granted to the other form is is "Delete".  I changed this access level to "Read" to resolve my issue.

Incidentally, this issue did get fixed by Microsoft (by the AccessLevel being changed to "Read") in one of the later hotfix CUs.

Thank you both for your replies.

The final solution was to override permissions.

The security tools just showed me that only "View" for the specific roles was active.

    Thank you very much!
