How to restrict only certain categories to be available in certain projects

We require to have only certain categories to be available for certain projects:

  • We have created a project category validation group and assigned it to a project

  • We have ensured Enable Category Validation is checked

  • When we create an expense journal categories that are not in the Project Category Validation Group are still available to be used

How can we restrict it so that only specific categories in the Project Category Validation Group are available?

Thanks

    Hi Simon,

There is a setting on the Project parameters which defines the severity of the validation.

On the General tab, there is a field called 'Project/category'. Please ensure this is not set to 'None'. If set to 'Lookup', the lookup will show valid categories for the project, but an user would be able to manually type another value. The option 'Mandatory' will also ensure that only valid categories will be accepted.

    Hi Simon,

As Andre mentioned you overlooked the related project parameter setting if that is in place the validation should work fine.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
