Object reference not set to an instance of an object when calling Get-NAVServerInstance

Hi Dynamics NAV Community,

I am struggling with this error in Dynamics NAV 2016. I have setup the DE version on a fresh Server 2012 and get the error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" when I try to call  Get-NAVServerInstance directly from Powershell or when I try to open up the Dynamics NAV 2016 Administration.

Has anybody seen the error before?

Would be glad to get any hint

Repairing the setup and rebooting the server solved the problem.

    Thank you very much

Thanks for your reply, but I don't think that the installation failed completely.

I can see the Service Tier if I use the Service Tier Administration Tool and I can also connect to the database via Windows Client or Development Enviroment. Only something connected to Powershell failed somehow :(

If I open the Administration, no Event Log Entry is written.

seems that the installation at least of the nav service instance and/or db failed.

check the install protocol and the event viewer.

i assume a remove and re-install of nav 2016 is needed.
