Hi,

Can anyone explain with the business scenario or with relevant example, what is the significance of

using one plan and two plan master planning strategy ?

I went through standard training document but does not explain in detail.

Thank you in advanced.

    Hi Rahul

Businesses that take a long time to plan (for whatever reason - long lead times, troubled supply chains etc) want a static plan. This means they run planning periodically, once a week for example. They do all of the aggregate and future production and purchasing planning based upon the static plan - meaning that the ground does not move from under them and they can be certain in the planning process of what has driven requirements - basically it is not a shifting playing field.

Now if you have perioidic plans but the situation constantly changes you can have a second plan which is the "dynamic" plan, this plan takes into account transactional movements and you can run updates from production etc. on the dynamic plan without impacting the static. Elements like the net requirements default to the dynamnic plan to show the current situation with orders, transactions etc processed since the static plan was run. This then enables users to see teh situation as it currently is.

Some businesses go with one, some two, it depends upon the planning action timescales and the impact of seeing the plan from teh different areas of AX. It has been a while since I have played in this area to be honest but that is how I remember it. At the start of planning you can copy the static to the dynamic so you have the same starting point, but the moment you load a sales order the dynamic moves from the view perspective with the new demand, but the static does not.
