Not recognizing new sql instance in Dynamics NAV

I have instaled nav 2016 and SQL Server 2012 SP2 (since is the basic requirement and I need to provide BD's in this version to my partners). In the SQL Server 2012SP2 installation I have created a named instance like NAVSQL\XXX.

I managed to restore a Demo Database 9-0 but once I try to open the respective SQL instance in the development environment I get the following error message: The NAVSQL\XXX server cannot be found. Try again later or contact your system administrator.

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance

    Hi Martinho,

Did you check the SQL permissions and SQL service status?

    Regards.

Is development environment installed on the same server, if so can you lookup the server instance you created ?

Problem solved by adding a specific user in the database logins used for the service account.

    thank you both

    Martinho,

You indicated that you resolved this issue by adding a database login. Can you provide me with specific instructions on how this can be achieved?

    Thanks,

    Anu

My service was not using network service on the account but a normal user. just had to add that specific user to the database logins.
