How to locate a code based on a label in AX 7

Hi,

In AX 2012, when trouble shoot the error, we can find out the label for the error message from Tools -> Label Editor. Once we got the label ID, then we can search the AOT to locate the code where throw the error/warning. How can we do the same in AX 7?

Thanks,

Notepad++ gives fast metadata search results compared to the actual metadata search that we have in visualstudio. Refer axility.net/.../metadata-search-like-a-pirate for more info.

    Hi Yuji,

At the bottom of the Application Explorer you will notice two tab pages: "Metadata search" and "Application Explorer".

Select "Metadata search" and enter the next statement for search within code:

    code:"some code"

Without the keyword "code:" it will search element names and individual properties.

But if I want to still search in AOT, how can I do that in AX7?

    Hi Yuji,

You can start searching labels by navigating in Visual Studio: Dynamics 365 > Find labels... (or Ctrl+R, Ctrl+L). When you found a label, right click the label or use Shift+F12 to find the references where this label is used.

As part of a build, by default the cross-references are updated in Dynamics 365, so searching within the AOT is not required anymore.

We still have Label search and Cross-references in AX, have you checked that?

You can create cross-references as part of the Build:
