Hi everyone,
I'm trying to set a workflow wait condition for when a record field changes to any other value. I'm aware I can specify a value, but that's not what I'm trying to do. I'm surprised there's not another option here that says something like 'is updated' or 'increases'...
I did try to set 'Does Not Equal' and then specified the field name, like this...
But of course that doesn't work as the field change is instantaneous, so it will always equal its current value.
I'm fairly new to Dynamics so I still have a lot to learn, but I'm confused as to why I can use the 'Record Fields Change' as a trigger to start a workflow, but not as a wait condition within a workflow.
Am I missing something? Or if anyone could recommend an alternative solution, I'd be very grateful!!
Many thanks
Toby
Hello Toby,
Hope you are well and safe.
Basically, Wait Condition always will check about a condition and cannot reach a condition based on the field changes.
On this article you can review a good sample on scenario "Send an Email to Opportunity Owner, whenever an Account has been assigned to the Opportunity":
‘Wait Condition’ in Workflow Explained | Rajeev Pentyala - Microsoft power platform blog
So, best way is define your current scenario and identify a condition to be reached, so set up Wait Condition on workflow to attend it.
Regards,
If you need to execute a workflow on update of a certain field you just have to trigger the workflow on update instead of keep it waiting. I think that's the preferred approach and that's way there is no such condition.
